KEEPING YOUR HEART FOCUSED ON GRACE

“When your spiritual HEART CONDITION is good, God’s will for your life is unquestionable!”

It’s about time we ask ourselves, what is it that really matter in our lives? Most of what we spend time on is aimed of the material or outward temporary things of the this world. Yet we forget that what really gives us much success even in this temporary corrupted world is the state of our being on the inside. Although we are in the world, but we are not of the world (John 17:16)!

The one and only way God is able to connect and relate with us, is through our born again spirit or heart!

THERE MUST BE HEART CONNECTION BEFORE WE CAN ESTABLISH A GRACE CONNECTION

When Bible make reference to the ‘heart’ it’s referring to our spirit man or inner man and not the physical heart of a human being.

Out hearts need to be trained and prepared through the hearing of the Word for the believer’s life of faith. The Bible repeats in several scriptures that “the just shall live by faith” (Habakkuk 2:4, Romans 1:17, Galatians 3:11, Hebrews 10:38). The Faith Life (Heb 11:6) makes possible the Grace Life and the Grace Life make possible the Abundant Life (John 10:10). Jesus also cautions us that the thief comes only to steal, to kill and to destroy.

Romans 4:16 (NKJV Strong's,)

16 Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all

Our hearts must be totally yielded and surrendered to God If we are to be used by Him to accomplish His purpose of our lives in Christ!

Proverbs 23:26 (NKJV Strong's,)

26 My son, give me your heart,

And let your eyes observe my ways.

KEEPING OUR HEARTS FROM BEING CONTAMINATED BY THE WORLD IS A CRITICAL RESPONSIBILITY OF EVERY BELIEVER.

The enemy’s strategy is aimed at polluting your heart to such a state that it is not usable by the Spirit of God. The thorns that we allow to grow in our hearts will unfortunately choke any seed of the Word that tries to find ground in our hearts rendering us unfruitful (Mark 4:18-19).

Proverbs 4:23-27 (NKJV Strong's,)

23 Keep your heart with all diligence,

For out of it spring the issues of life.

24 Put away from you a deceitful mouth,

And put perverse lips far from you.

25 Let your eyes look straight ahead,

And your eyelids look right before you.

26 Ponder the path of your feet,

And let all your ways be established.

27 Do not turn to the right or the left;

Remove your foot from evil.

Matthew 15:10-11 (NKJV Strong's,)

10 When He had called the multitude to Himself, He said to them, “Hear and understand: 11 Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.”

Matthew 15:18-20 (NKJV Strong's,)

18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. 20 These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man.”

A NEW HEART AND NEW SPIRIT

Ezekiel 36:26-27 (NKJV Strong's,)

26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.

Jeremiah 24:7 (NKJV Strong's,)

7 Then I will give them a heart to know Me, that I am the Lord; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God, for they shall return to Me with their whole heart.

2 Corinthians 5:17-18 (NKJV Strong's,)

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation,

Now, let’s use the mirror of the Word of God to check

the condition of our hearts

and make the necessary changes to improve our lives in Christ!

  1. A HEART OF WORSHIP

Isaiah 29:13 (NIV)

13 The Lord says:

“These people come near to me with their mouth

and honor me with their lips,

but their hearts are far from me.

Their worship of me

is based on merely human rules they have been taught.

Isaiah 29:13 (NLT)

13 And so the Lord says,

“These people say they are mine.

They honor me with their lips,

but their hearts are far from me.

And their worship of me

is nothing but man-made rules learned by rote.

John 4:23-24 (NKJV Strong's,)

23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

  1. A HEART OF INTEGRITY

Psalms 51:10 (NKJV Strong's,)

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God,

And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Psalms 51:10 (NLT)

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God.

Renew a loyal spirit within me.

God recognizes a heart of integrity! God will always deliver justice for you based on what he sees in your heart and not what others see on the outside. Our aim should always be to look right before God by having the right attitudes, motives and intentions on any matter.

Genesis 20:3-7 (NKJV Strong's,)

3 But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, “Indeed you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is a man's wife.”

4 But Abimelech had not come near her; and he said, “Lord, will You slay a righteous nation also? 5 Did he not say to me, ‘She is my sister’? And she, even she herself said, ‘He is my brother.’ In the integrity of my heart and innocence of my hands I have done this.”

6 And God said to him in a dream, “Yes, I know that you did this in the integrity of your heart. For I also withheld you from sinning against Me; therefore I did not let you touch her. 7 Now therefore, restore the man's wife; for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you shall live. But if you do not restore her, know that you shall surely die, you and all who are yours.”

  1. A LOVING HEART

1 John 3:21-23 (NKJV Strong's,)

21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God. 22 And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. 23 And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.

  1. A GIVING HEART

Let each one give as he purposes in his heart

2 Corinthians 9:5-7 (NKJV Strong's,)

5 Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren to go to you ahead of time, and prepare your generous gift beforehand, which you had previously promised, that it may be ready as a matter of generosity and not as a grudging obligation. The Cheerful Giver

6 But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful (noticeably Happy & optimistic) giver.

  1. A BELIEVING HEART

Psalms 27:13-14 (NKJV Strong's,)

13 I would have lost heart, unless I had believed

That I would see the goodness of the Lord

In the land of the living.

14 Wait on the Lord;

Be of good courage,

And He shall strengthen your heart;

Wait, I say, on the Lord!

Romans 10:9-12 (NKJV Strong's,)

9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.

  1. TRUSTING HEART

Matthew 6:19-21 (NKJV Strong's,)

Lay Up Treasures in Heaven

19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Psalms 37:3-4 (NKJV Strong's,)

3 Trust in the Lord, and do good;

Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.

4 Delight yourself also in the Lord,

And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

PEOPLE OFTEN DO GOOD BECAUSE

They feel good

It’s convenient

They stand to benefit or have an interest

They want to look good

They are compelled

  1. A WILLING HEART

Fear and selfishness will prevent your heart from connecting with God's original will for your life

Isaiah 1:19 (NKJV Strong's,)

19 If you are willing and obedient,

You shall eat the good of the land;

Mark 8:34-36 (NKJV Strong's,)

Take Up the Cross and Follow Him

34 When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 35 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel's will save it. 36 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?

THEIR HEARTS WERE READY ALTHOUGH THEY WERE NOT AWARE

Moses' heart was already with his people, Israel

Esther's heart was already her people and God agenda

Gideon's heart was ready although he was not aware

Peter's was with Jesus although fear dominated him

Revelation 3:20 (NKJV Strong's,)

20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

  1. A PEACEFUL HEART

Isaiah 26:3 (NKJV Strong's,)

3 You will keep him in perfect peace,

Whose mind is stayed on You,

Because he trusts in You.

Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV Strong's,)

6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

  1. A HEART OF HUMILITY

Psalms 51:16-17 (NKJV Strong's,)

16 For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it;

You do not delight in burnt offering.

17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit,

A broken and a contrite heart—

These, O God, You will not despise.

Psalms 51:10 (NKJV Strong's,)

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God,

And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

  1. A FREE HEART

Romans 8:1-2 (NKJV Strong's,)

Free from Indwelling Sin

1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.

Romans 8:15 (NKJV Strong's,)

15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”
